Why lab grown diamonds?
Learn more about lab grown diamonds.
At Z&A Diamonds Co., we believe that informed decisions lead to confident purchases. That’s why we’re committed to educating our customers about the essential qualities that define a diamond’s value and beauty—the 4Cs: Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat Weight. Understanding these factors will help you select the perfect diamond for your needs.
Diamond Education: Understanding the 4Cs
1.
Cut
The cut of a diamond is the most critical factor influencing its brilliance, fire, and overall sparkle. It refers to how well the diamond has been proportioned, polished, and faceted—not its shape. A well-cut diamond reflects light beautifully, maximizing its brilliance, while poorly cut diamonds allow light to escape, resulting in reduced sparkle. Diamonds are graded on a scale from Ideal or Excellent, which offers maximum light reflection, to Poor, which sacrifices brilliance. At Z&A Diamonds Co., we prioritize diamonds with superior cuts to ensure you experience unmatched brilliance and timeless beauty.
2.
Colour
Diamond color refers to the absence of color, with the finest diamonds being completely colorless. The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) grades diamonds on a scale from D (colorless) to Z (light yellow or brown). D-F grades are highly sought after for their rarity, while G-J diamonds provide excellent value with a near-colorless appearance. Lower grades like K-Z may show noticeable hues, but they can be a budget-friendly choice for specific preferences. Our collection spans the full spectrum of colors, helping you find the perfect balance of hue, quality, and price to suit your needs.
3.
Clarity
Diamond clarity measures the presence of inclusions (internal imperfections) and blemishes (surface imperfections) formed during the natural or lab creation process. Clarity is graded from FL (Flawless) and IF (Internally Flawless), which are exceedingly rare, to grades like VVS (Very, Very Slightly Included) and VS (Very Slightly Included), where imperfections are only visible under magnification. SI (Slightly Included) diamonds offer visible inclusions at a lower price point, while I (Included) grades may show noticeable flaws that affect brilliance. At Z&A Diamonds Co., we offer diamonds with clarity grades that deliver beauty and value.
4.
Carat
The carat weight of a diamond measures its size and is often a key consideration for buyers. While carat refers to the diamond’s weight (1 carat = 200 milligrams), it’s important to note that carat alone doesn’t determine beauty or value. A diamond’s cut, color, and clarity significantly impact its overall appearance. Smaller diamonds under 1 carat are perfect for understated elegance, while diamonds in the 1-2 carat range are popular for their balance of size and brilliance. Larger diamonds, 3 carats or more, create bold and unforgettable statements. Our selection offers all ranges of carat weights based on your requirements
